Begin in Samburu National Reserve, home to the rare "Samburu Special Five" — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich. Continue to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, sanctuary to East Africa's largest black rhino population and a haven for rescued chimpanzees, set beneath the majestic silhouette of Mount Kenya. At Lake Nakuru, flamingo-fringed waters and rare white rhinos await. The journey culminates with two unhurried days of game drives in the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve, where lions, cheetah, leopards, elephants, and the Big Five roam in timeless splendor.

Sample itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu

Early morning departure from Nairobi, heading north towards Samburu. Enjoy a scenic drive through central Kenya, with stunning views of Mount Kenya and the lush central highlands. Arrive at Sarova Shaba Lodge or similar in time for lunch and relaxation. Afternoon game drive in search of rare wildlife such as elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the unique Samburu special five. Sundowner experience (optional) as you enjoy the sunset over the picturesque Samburu landscape. Dinner and overnight stay at your preferred lodge or camp. Days 2: Samburu

Spend the day in Samburu, with an early morning and late afternoon game drive optional activities include a visit to a local Samburu village, guided nature and bird walks. The reserve is reached in wildlife with fame for abundance in rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred as Samburu Special). The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard, and Cheetah are an important attraction. Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction, birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded. Critically endangered species under CITIES – Pancake tortoise (malacochersus tornieri) is found in the reserve. All meals and overnight at Sarova Shaba Lodge or similar. Day 3: Samburu - Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Depart Samburu in the morning and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy arriving well in time for lunch at Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Afternoon game drive including a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only one of its kind in Kenya. The chimpanzees’ natural home range spans from Senegal on the West African coast, through the central forested belt of Africa, to Uganda. They are not native to Kenya, but when a rescue centre in Burundi had to be closed due to the civil war outbreak in 1993 – Ol Pejeta opened its doors. Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary has been compelled to keep accepting chimpanzees rescued from traumatic situations – bringing the total number of chimpanzees in the Sanctuary to 35. Day 4: Ol Pejeta - Lake Nakuru

Depart after breakfast and drive via Thompsons Falls to Lake Nakuru National Park arriving Sarova Lion Hill Lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive in the park. Besides the flamingos that the lake is famous for, there are approx 400 other species of birds visiting the lake. Also, many species of game can be found in the park including the introduced Rothschild’s giraffe, black and white rhino, waterbuck, reedbuck, lion, buffalo, leopard, baboon and many species of plains game. Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara

Depart Lake Nakuru after breakfast and drive to Maasai Mara Game Reserve arriving Lodge/camp in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at lodge/camp. Approx Transit time: 6 hrs Meal plan: {Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner}

Day 6 & 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

Spend two days in this wonderful game reserve, with early morning and late afternoon game drives. You will have the best opportunity of spotting the buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant and rhino popularly known as the big five. You may opt to go out with picnic lunch boxes to spend most of the time in the park, coming back to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight. Visit to Manyatta (local Maasai villages) available at an extra fee payable direct to the village elders. All meals and overnight at Lodge/Camp. Meal plan: {Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner}

Day 8: Masai Mara - Nairobi

Breakfast then bid farewell to Maasai Mara and drive back to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. Drop off at your hotel or transfer to the airport for your onward flight home. End of our services. Approx transit time: 6 hrs Meal plan: {Breakfast}
